About
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Jan Marie Jacobson received her AAS degree in Fashion Design from The Academy in Chicago in 1984. Subsequently, she worked in both design + product realisation with foreign markets whilst producing independent collections under her own label for local boutiques. Scouted by an international agency, Jan Marie relocated to Europe and balanced her design + global modelling opportunities for the next two decades, concurrently working as model, muse, and collaborative for Moschino (Milan), Gattinoni (Rome) and Lecoanet Hemant (Paris). She began an independent label in Paris before migrating to London, opening a luxe pret-a-porter and bridal studio in 2001. Her passion for precision, fit and comfort within an intricately detailed garment has always been a focal point of her designs, utilising techniques honed within European ateliers. Jan Marie’s unique style and personalised process has attracted a loyal clientele including Savannah Miller, Kelly Hoppen, Patsy Kensit, Rossella Jardini, Lili Dent-Brocklehurst, Brix Smith-Start and other famous faces. Her designs have been featured in Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Hello!, Conde Nast Brides, and House and Garden in the UK, Jeune et Jolie in France, Grazia in Italy, and Harper’s Bazaar in Australia.
Relocating to Australia in 2009 with her partner and children, she continued her private couture design practice. VOELLK was launched in 2018, drawing on Jan Marie’s extensive background in international fashion markets across London, Milan, Paris, New York and Tokyo, with the vision of providing a unique couture sensibility to the modern Australian audience.
